Why Aethon exists.
Air traffic control has not fundamentally changed in fifty years. The current system was designed for a few hundred jets per major airport. It is now being asked to manage commercial drones, urban air mobility, and a global commercial aviation recovery past pre-pandemic peaks.
The incumbents in the ATC technology market have responded with human-augmentation. None are building toward autonomy. Augmentation extends the runway by five to ten years. It does not solve the underlying capacity constraint.
Aethon Defense was founded to build what the incumbents will not. We deploy in the airspaces and markets where autonomous capability can be operationalized first. We build operational track record internationally before US regulatory frameworks mature. We engineer Skyfield to certify, not just to demonstrate.

Norman Hayman founded Aethon Defense in 2026. He is the founder of SocialRevver, a profitable software and media operations company, and operates Hayman Capital as a holding entity for adjacent investments.
Norman is based in Lynchburg, Virginia. He is not an aviation domain expert. Domain expertise is being acquired through advisors, partnerships, faculty research collaborations, and forthcoming hires. The Aethon founder thesis rests on the belief that the next category-leading autonomous ATC company will be built by an operator from outside the existing ATC industry.
